WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS RIDESHARE WEBSITE?
There are dozens of rideshare websites serving the United States. However, most of them are not very user-friendly in that they do not offer a way for users to quickly find the most practical partners for their carpool or rideshare. RideshareOptimizer.com allows users to search for others with similar routes and schedules, and provides a listing of other users whose routes and schedules are most compatible. The search results each have a listing of users is in ascending order by additional distance or time required for the driver, and allows users to contact each other. There is no need to search listings of all riders trying to figure out who is on a similar schedule and/or traveling a similar route.
Why was RideshareOptimizer.com started?
The founder of RideshareOptimizer.com was looking at carpool/rideshare websites and noticed that many users had not visited the sites in months or years. It could have been that the users of the sites had found their carpool partners, but if that were the case, those users would likely have deleted their entries. Looking further at the sites, he realized that finding a potential rideshare partner is not easy. A user generally has to manually search all entries and try to figure out who is closest to his destination and origin, and on the same schedule. There had to be a better way.
How is RideshareOptimizer.com different?
RideshareOptimizer.com allows users to search for the best matches among riders and drivers with similar schedules by figuring out which combinations require the least additional travel distance or time for a driver. The site determines the travel distance and time for a driver’s direct route and compares it to the travel distance and time if the driver picks up and drops off each rider with similar origins, destinations, and schedules. The user is then presented with a list of his or her best matches with the additional travel time and distance required for a driver to share a ride with the other user.
RideshareOptimizer.com does not merely match riders and drivers whose origins and/or destinations are close to each other. It also finds riders whose origins and/or destinations are not necessarily close to each other, but are along the route of drivers. It makes more sense for a driver to pick up a rider who is 10 miles away from his home, but only a mile off his route, than to pick up a rider who is 2 miles away, but in the opposite direction from his daily commute.
Is RideshareOptimizer.com intended to help people form carpools for their daily commute or for single long distance trips?
It is intended to be used for either purpose.
What is the charge for using RideshareOptimizer.com?
There is no charge for using the site and no plans to ever charge users.
